Labor Day Fishing Report!

a painting of a book

Welcome back everyone and Happy Labor Day!

This week brings lots of rained out days unfortunately. With late summer weather in full effect, we have to play by Mother Nature’s rules. That being said, when the weather allows us to get out we’re filling baskets. Mingos and white snappers continue to stay hot, along with plenty of banded rudderfish, triggerfish, and the reef donkey’s better known as amberjack. We have until the end of September to harvest amberjacks, and have triggers open through the end of the year. Gag grouper is open through September 15th. We have a select few opportunities to target them with 10 or 12 hour trips needed to get to the deeper waters. Entertainer is the perfect set up for these longer trips as we are able to provide amenities that center console boats don’t have. Come see why choosing a head boat is a great option for the whole family.

Now that we’re moving into the late summer season the temperatures will hopefully begin to cool down, which will trigger countless species of fish to transition into their fall patterns. The fall pompano run is already looking to be a great one. Sand fleas, fresh dead shrimp, and ghost shrimp along with Fish Bites or Fish Gum will be your best shot at landing one of these silver gems. Flounder will also become a popular species to fish for, either from land or boat/kayak. Bull minnows and finger mullet on a Carolina rig work great for live baits. If you prefer artificial lures, Gulp and Z Man are both great options for soft plastics. The key here is to fish on the bottom at all times for these tasty flat fish. Speckled trout and redfish will also continue to pick up in numbers as we move away from the summer time heat. It’s hard to beat a live shrimp under a popping cork to target both of them.

With the opportunities at much bigger catches on longer ranged trips, we are offering multiple chances to join us for one of the best trips that money can buy! You can’t beat the luxury that comes with fishing on a boat of our caliber. Air conditioned (or heated) cabin, clean restroom, kitchenette and Big Green Egg for meals, and bunk house down below for resting during these excursions are all included with these trips. With 36 hours on board, you’ll absolutely need to take a break at some point. And there’s no better way to relax than by having a quiet bunk room to unwind away from the action. There will be trips focusing on deep water bottom fishing for tilefish, various species of grouper and snapper, and other exotics. We will also offer a dedicated tuna trip if that is more your style. Both styles of trips will be super limited, 10 anglers max per trip. You’ll be hard pressed to find another charter boat in the Pensacola or Perdido Key area that is offering trips like these. Seats won’t stay open for long, so call our booking office to get your name on the books today!
